Ahhh, home sweet home! That's it! This is our humble cottage in the
mountains of western Montana. Montana is such a vast, beautiful and varied
state. I'm blessed by my heavenly Father that I get to live in one of the
prettiest parts of Montana. My husband and I have lived in this house and
on our property of 2.5 acres since 2006. It started out as being a small
shop with a nasty old trailer to the right of the garage, which is just to the
right of our house. We got rid of the trailer by offering it for free as
long as the person moved it. It was our work in progress and we still
continue to find projects to work on.
We started working on
the property as soon as the weather would allow us, which for us, it was around
April. We worked through the summer and by the fall we were in our
home. At the time we had only our oldest daughter who was two at the
time. While working on the house, we found out that I was pregnant with
twins!
But, twins and kids are another story
for another time. I also put up a few pictures of our 2,000 square foot
garden. It's basically the size of our house. 'Cause, we like to
garden and I married an Indiana farm boy. Right now, the snow is covering
most of the garden, but I'm already receiving seed catalogs in the mail,
so....I'm sure you can imagine what is being planned.
In the past, we've had chickens. Our
first round had us keeping about 15, the next round we got 60. We have not
had any chickens for about two years now and I'm thinking it's because we got
burned out by keeping 60 chickens and trying to find people who wanted
eggs. Yes, it sometimes became a problem. Sad to say. However, maybe
this spring or next, we plan on getting some more chickens. In the picture
with the gate, you can actually see the chicken coop made by my husband out of
mostly recycled materials. It also sits upon two metal blade sort of
things to make moving it easier. Matt is so clever.
Stay tuned, friends, as the winter winds
down, you will find all our many putterings and projects that we plan on doing
for the warmer months. Thanks for reading. Until a warmer day.
